POET CVETKA LIPUŠ AT THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS
The European Division, Library of Congress, in partnership with the Embassy of Slovenia, presents Slovenian poet Cvetka Lipuš. Award-winning poet Cvetka Lipuš, a member of Austria's Slovenian minority, writes poetry in her first language, despite having lived outside Slovenia for most of her adult life. After living in Pittsburgh for more than 15 years, Ms. Lipuš moved in 2009 to Salzburg, Austria. Much of the poetry in her seven published collections has been translated into several languages, and she has received fellowships and literary awards in various countries, including the Slovenian government's prestigious national Prešeren Award.
Introductory remarks by Prof. Dr. Vesna Kondrič Horvat, University of Maribor, will be followed by the author's talk, a moderated discussion, and poetry reading in English.
